I only witnessed a tiny section of the gruelling 647 miles of non-stop pedalling between the office staff, but to hear they raised over £2000 was outstanding and a shame I wasn’t there at the ‘finish line’ to applaud them!
This, from the news release:
“BOTTLE kept the pedals moving continuously from 9.00am to 5.30pm from Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July, streaming the entire event through its website and tweeting live updates from the week-long activity. The digital media activity drove countless donations, as nearly 300 unique viewers watched the team sweat it out for charity and offered words of encouragement from around the world.
BOTTLE’s initial target was to cycle the 500 mile distance from Oxford to Geneva (as the crow flies), to raise £1500. But by the end of the day on Friday, the team had put in a supreme effort to smash both targets.
The activity was in aid of the Oxfordshire-based charity SpecialEffect, which develops special equipment for severely disabled children that enables them to take part in the fun and inclusion of gaming with their friends and family.
BOTTLE’s targets were exceeded with the help of SpecialEffect’s Head of Communications, Mark Saville, a guest appearance by Oxford music sensation Nikki Loy, some special members of the Oxford United Football Club community team, and a gym bike kindly donated by the local David Lloyd gym.
Those wishing to reward BOTTLE’s efforts can donate to SpecialEffect at www.justgiving.com/bottle-pr.”
Here are just a small selection of the photos, some even selected to feature in the online section and paper print of the Oxford Mail.
